Abstract: The American bigoted perspectives about African Americans have been translated into racial stereotypical representations in American films, leading to the rise of revolutionary Black cinema. This dissertation attempts to study the challenging uplift of black film in the face of those stereotypes, to become more mainstream and synonymous with the Black experience and identity.
