Imminent Scientist in Microbiology (h-index=55), Prof. Svetoslav Dimitrov TODOROV holds an undergraduate degree with MSc in Biotechnology and Industrial Microbiology, from Sofia University, Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, Sofia, Bulgaria, and a PhD in Microbiology from ENITIAA Laboratory of Microbiology, Nantes (France) and University of Sofia (Bulgaria). He held a Post-Doc and researcher position at Department of Microbiology, University of Stellenbosch, Stellenbosch, South Africa, a visiting Professor position at University of Sao Paulo and Federal University of Vicosa, Brazil. During 2019-2022, he held a research professor position at Advanced Green Energy and Environment Institute (AGEE), Handong Global University, Pohang, South Korea. From January 2023, he is an assistant professor at the Department of Food Sciences and Experimental Nutrition, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Sao Paulo, Sao Paul, Brazil. His research field is focused on lactic acid bacteria (molecular taxonomy; physiology and biochemistry; probiotics) and their bacteriocins (Characterization and Purification; Medical application). He is Editor of 5 books, author of 226 papers published in peer- reviewed journals and 32 book chapters. He holds a patent (N° WO2007138538-A2; WO2007138538-A3): New isolated peptide from Enterococcus mundtii has antimicrobial activity, useful for manufacturing a medicament for treating a bacterial infection or for reducing the levels of pathogenic bacteria or viruses in an animal or human. According to www.scopus.com (accessed 24 January 2023), he’s at position 3 in the World and position 1 in Brazil in area of bacteriocins (key words bacteriocin & bacteriocins). From 2019 (in all editions till 2023), his name is included in the Elsevier list of the 100 000 most cited scientists in the World and he was honored by www.research.com as leading scientist.
