Prof. Dr. Monia EL BOUR is a Senior Lecturer at INSTM-National Institute of Marine Sciences and Technologies (Tunisia). She holds a PhD in Aquatic Microbiology (Molecular Biology and Genetics) and she is an expert in “Aquatic Biotechnology, Microbiology, Bio- monitoring, Bioremediation and Bio-Valorization of Aquatic Micro-organisms’’. She’s member of the Mediterranean Experts on Climate and Environmental Change (MedECC). Her main activities are focused on aquatic microbial systematic and studies, cytological and molecular screening and extraction of natural products in the Mediterranean area.  She is also working on continental and marine benthic communities, fish diseases and bioremediation. Ongoing specific projects including bio-monitoring for different marine ecosystems: microbial communities and their potential biotechnological applications for (i) biodegradation (bioremediation) or (ii) antifouling. Author and co-author of more than 200 international and national publications and director and participant in more than 23 projects aimed in health, bio-monitoring and bioremediation of aquatic organisms and ecosystems since 1994. Member of five Non-Governmental Associations in Marine Sciences, Microbiology and Biotechnology and two International institutions, the French Society of Microbiology (SFM) and Marine Mediterranean Commission of Marine Sciences (CIESM).
