Dr Maegala NALLAPAN MANIYAM is currently affiliated with the Institute of Bio-IT Selangor, Selangor University. She possesses a strong educational background in Chemistry and Biotechnology and has undergone proteomics training at Imperial College of London. Her research primarily focuses on Environmental Biotechnology and Green Chemistry, with a specific emphasis on the role of Rhodococcus in bioremediation. Throughout her research endeavors, she has published 33 papers in highly impactful journals indexed in WoS and Scopus, and has contributed 3 book chapters. In recognition of her research excellence, she was honored with the Excellent Researcher Award by Selangor University in both 2017 and 2018. Additionally, she received the Outstanding Women in Science (Biotechnology) Award from the Venus International Women Foundation in Chennai in 2018. She dedicates herself to promoting Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) among secondary school students and prospective teachers. Her efforts have been acknowledged with gold medals at the Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE) competitions in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024.
