Dr. Ossi TURUNEN is currently Professor of Wood Materials Science at School of Forest Sciences, University of Eastern Finland since 2018 and vice head of the School of Forest Sciences, in charge of laboratories since 2019. He received his MSc in 
1988 and PhD in 1998, in Biochemistry from University of Helsinki (Finland). He holds the title of Docent in Enzyme Technology and Protein Engineering from Aalto University in 2014. He was an adjunct Professor, in College of Life Science, South-Central University for Nationalities, Wuhan, China (2016-2018), Research Scientist, at University of Eastern Finland (2017-2018), partially in charge of Biochemistry professorship in School of Chemical Engineering, Aalto University (2016-2017), a Teaching Researcher in School of Chemical Engineering, Aalto University (2009-2017 and a Postdoctoral and senior researcher at Helsinki University of Technology (1998-2008). He has 82 peer reviewed scientific articles and eight non-refereed scientific articles, a U.S. patent 7,718,411 granted in 2010 and several invention disclosures. His h-index is 30.
