Abstract: | The present research intends to analyse Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption, one of the most famous stories by Stephen King. It was adapted into a film entitled The Shawshank Redemption, and translated into many languages. In the story, we come across some existential philosophy principles as it deals with the absurd living conditions of the inmates inside prison and the constant choices they make. The focus of the present study is on the main character Andy Dufresne who finds his life taking a serious detour after his wife and her lover are murdered and the crime is pinned on him. From the moment he enters prison, Andy encounters many existential crisis and works hard to stay sane and tries to give his life a meaning. He tries to give his life a meaning by choosing and acting and taking responsibility of what comes of it |
