Abstract: The present dissertation entitled Materials in Neo-colonial Africa. Case Study: Petals of Blood by Ngugi Wa Thiong’o aims to explore the ways Africa is first of all ideologicall and culturally impacted by neo-colonial Imperialism. We attempt to demonstrate the Capitalist cultural chains that make sure to drag away Africans from their local way of being. More importantly, our discussion is about the ways they are represented in Ngugi’s novel Petals of Blood from a Materialistic perspective, and precisely, based on the Cultural Materialism of Both Marvin Harris and Raymond Williams.
