Abstract: The present dissertation explores psychological manipulation and Thoughtc George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four and Patricia McCormick's Never Fal It focuses on the practices of dictatorial regimes as to manipulate and acqu control over the population using different means to reach their goals. Thro study of the means of propaganda and by connecting them to the manipulatio psyche in both novels, we endeavored to understand the main process throug the government trick and manipulate its citizens using propaganda in order them absorb its ideology. We also studied the main aspects of Thoughtcrime Orwell's Oceania and the Khmer Rouge's Democratic Kampuchea and ho punished. In questioning the ability of the two regimes in keeping permanen whatever the cost, we used Marxist literary theory relying on the concept superstructure and the base and the ideology of Foucault and Althusser to ans question. This theory helped enormously understand the political atmosphere relation between the dominant and the dominated in both novels.
