Abstract

This study attempts to re-read the novel (L’incendie) by Mohamed DIB in the light of
post-colonial studies, focusing on highlighting Dib’s vision of colonialism, and criticism
by exposing the miserable reality of Algerian peasants during the Second World War.
Among the most important issues dealt with in this study is the recovery of the farmer's
ability to speak and produce his own discourse, which is an important stage in the
maturation of revolutionary awareness, as this awareness cannot be formed within a
climate of enforced silence
