Abstract

Exploring Barthes’ view of the dilemma of literary forms shows that he has not
written a book independently of them. The bibliographic list of his works is free of this
reference that we are trying to find. At the best of our knowledge about his bibliography,
and all we have about races or species, are signals and vertebrae that take the form of
fragments and fast sentences in his works. This represents difficulty in relying on it to record
a holistic attitude about a critic with a good deal of transformation, transition and even
intellectual migration. This research is an attempt to dig into the problematic relationship
between the rejection of Barthes’ literary rhetoric and his bias to the concept of writing while
entrenching the notion of emancipation or counter-obligation that Barthes has come to in
reaction to Sartre's position and his call for the writer's ideological obligation
