The argument dimensions of the debate in (Al-Rumyyat) Abu Firas al-Hamdani (Case of his debates with the Dumastaq )

Abstract

This research means studying the argumentation techniques of the art of debate as a kind of argument dialogue that occurs between two parties are increasingly argument, Each one tries to prove his argument against his rival. and at the same time invalidates the arguments of him, and then overcome him. The researcher chose the debate of Abi Firas al-Hamdani to the Roman Emperor (Dumastaq) as a subject of study, There were debates between them in the court of the Roman Emperor (Dumastaq), who was trying to downplay Abu Firas, and mock his people since they are pen holders and are not swordsmen (warriors). Which led Abba Firas (who became arguing him ) to use some argumentation mechanisms to overcome him, And the most prominent of them in the debate was the mechanism of ironic argument. As the poet used the (argument denying question) based on irony, And Abu Firas was able to beat his rival (Dumastaq) in the debate and stop his efforts and arguments, and also succeeded in defending the Arab power that humiliated the Byzantines by presenting in this poem the multiple defeats of the Roman leaders in front of the Hamdani army.
