The irrational sufi : For a different reading

Abstract

This research paper, proposes to reconsider the binary taxonomic scheme, that
the Arab modernists’ reading of the Gnostic heritage, and according to which the
boundary between the “rational” and the the “irrational unreasonable” mysticism has been
established, as mutually opposite parties that do not meet, the presence of one requires the
absence of the other. This binary scheme – that has been devoted to knowledge and culture
is based on an exclusionary ideology ideological conception that strips the Gnostic mind
of the reasonableness whose meaning has been narrowed down and its borders cordoned
off., This paper therefore, comes to reconsider the rationalist Gnostic legacy according to a
different conception, which broadens the semantic horizon of the mind and puts it in front
of the task of permanent review of its statements
