Receiving theory, towards a new literary history

Abstract

This study seeks to define one of the contemporary critical theory, represented in reception theory, which was born at the school of Constance in west Germany by Hans Robert Jauss. And that is why this study will define the conceptual device of this theory. And detect the qualitative gap that the latter has brought to literary theory, By criticizing the structural theories which make text the essence of the critical operation. That’s why reception theory has worked to restore the receiver in order to establish a literary history of reception not for authors or for texts.
