Abstract

Abstract: We address a renewed topic related to the phenomenon of Orientalism by presenting a set of contemporary concepts and some modernist theories that have been employed in critiquing the phenomenon of Orientalism. In the context of highlighting Wael Hallaq's book, Restating Orientalism, we relied on mechanisms of analysis and deconstruction of Hallaq's discourse, uncovering the fundamental features he adopted in his critique of Orientalism, especially the concepts introduced by Edward Said. Hallaq employed Arab and Western propositions in an attempt to establish a methodology for critiquing Orientalism, based on theories he combined to refute the political concepts of Orientalism and reveal its other dimensions.
