Abstract

The Arab city faces challenges due to urban development and expansion, which over time leads to a loss of its moral and heritage identity. In the novel "The Scents of the City 2" by the writer Hussein Al-Waad, a dimension of this conflict is addressed, arising between Tunisian society and the formations of political and economic gangs, as well as the cultural mafia that controls the lives of the people. This study aims to understand how the novel deals with social challenges and explores ways to save the city from the consequences of these crises. In the end, the study reached a set of key points that can be summarized as follows: - The ability of literary narration to dissect the reality of the Arab city and what may hinder its development. - Understanding the problems that arose and led to all these catastrophic consequences for the city's community.
