Abstract

Modernity and postmodernity are not well-defined terms; instead, they are systems that
have emerged from the accumulation of various intellectual and epistemological values,
impacting multiple fields of knowledge. This discussion aims to explore the
manifestations of modernity and postmodernity, highlighting their repercussions and the
ideas they have generated. It also traces their influence within the realm of critical practice
and examines how Arab critics have engaged with these concepts. Our research addresses
a major issue: How have modernity and postmodernity manifested within the realm of
critical practice? This issue encompasses several questions, including: What were the prevailing thoughts under modernity and postmodernity? Were these thoughts capable of

changing the perception and propositions of criticism? How did this change occur, and
what were its repercussions? Did it affect the Arab critical scene?
