Abstract

Since the beginning of the sixteenth century, the West has been interested in Oriental studies, and this interest intensified with the emergence of academic specialists in this field in the nineteenth century. Their focus was on the East and everything related to Arab and Islamic civilization, including its history ,sciences, literature, culture, beliefs ,politics, and society. It is known that most Orientalists were prejudiced against this civilization, while some adopted a more balanced approach, advocating for science without succumbing to nationalistic biases. Amidst this apprehension, fear, vile racism, and superiority complex, a highly significant book emerged, causing a stir in both the East and the West. The author, German Orientalist Sigrid Hunka, managed to uncover many truths that Western Orientalism had tried to conceal, ignore, or distort.
