Abstract

Due to its great repercussions, the visit of Moroccan King, Mohammed5, to Tangier, and his famous speech on April 10, 1947, represented a critical point in Moroccan peoples struggle for independence. That was because the Kings new orientation for his country was based on establishing closer ties between him and the National Movement for independence, as well as closer ties with the Arab East and the Arab League, for the purpose of linking Morocco to its Arab surroundings, and thus obtaining sympathy and support from the Arab peoples. And because of its importance, the Kings visit attracted much attention of the Arab press, notably the Egyptian one, as the Egyptian press did not hesitate in conveying the merits of the visit as a prominent event. In light of this, this article traces back the echoes that this historical visit left in many Egyptian newspapers and how they interacted with it.
