Abstract

The objective of this article is to highlight the oasis heritage of Sabria, a village in southern Tunisia created by the settling of the Sahara nomads, where the date’s production is the main activity. This agricultural product, which is dates, is the most indispensable means of the subsistence for the village families. However, this activity has also its weaknesses and fragilities due to several elements. Therefore, it is urgent to promote and valorize many other things linked to these oases, such as, the crafts made by women (weaving), the traditional architecture, folklore as well as all the oral traditions, in addition to gastronomy.
