Abstract

This article mainly deals with a method of preventing the spread of disease infection, known in the modern period as Karantina or quarantine, a procedure or system developed by Europeans at the end of the fourteenth century and the beginning of the fifteenth century after setting special laws to manage it, and this system was affected by many areas Throughout the world in the modern period, such as Algeria, Tunisia, and Tripoli in the West, however, in this article we will address the regency of Algeria, and before that we will review the nature of this preventive system called Karantina and its historical roots, and then show its importance and the role it played in limiting the losses that result from disease infection in all In addition, we touched upon the reality of Algeria's application of the procedures of this preventive system in the Ottoman period, as rulers and ruled. We will also shed light on the call of Hamdan bin Othman Khoja, the pioneer of renewal and influenced by Western European thought and calling for reform and renaissance in Algeria during the studied period.
