Abstract

The main objective of this paper is to identify the resolution mechanisms used by Algerian public banks
to reduce the information imperfection that characterizes the Algerian credit market.
For this reason, we applied the principal component analysis (PCA) which allowed us to identify the
determinants of the decision to grant credit in the Algerian public banks. Our data was analyzed using
the SPSS 20 software. Indeed, in the Algerian public banks, when studying the credit file filed by an old
relationship or a new relationship, on the one hand, the borrower's assets and the level of commitment
of the promoter to the Bank of Algeria's central risk department are decisive signals for the decision to
grant credit to the profitability of the project and the level of commitment of the promoter to third
parties. Nevertheless, the weight of the personal contribution and the value of the guarantees differ
according to the type of the relationship. It also shows that the regularity of dividends paid to
shareholders is not important for our public banks.
