Similarity and Plagiarism Detection Policy

The Journal of Studies in Language, Culture, and Society (JSLCS) is committed to upholding academic integrity and ensuring that all published research is original and free from plagiarism. To achieve this, the journal employs Detectia, a similarity detection tool integrated with the Algerian Scientific Journal Platform (ASJP), to screen all submitted manuscripts.

Similarity Thresholds and Actions

  1. Red Zone (30% or higher)

    • Manuscripts with a similarity score of 30% or more are immediately rejected without further evaluation.

    • The editorial team does not consider revisions for these submissions due to excessive similarity, which may indicate plagiarism or self-plagiarism.

  2. Yellow Zone (20–30%)

    • Manuscripts with a similarity score between 20% and 30% undergo further verification by the editorial team.

    • Authors will be asked to revise their work to address identified similarities, ensuring proper citation and paraphrasing where necessary.

    • Resubmitted versions must meet the Green Zone criteria to proceed to peer review.

  3. Green Zone (Below 20%)

    • Manuscripts with a similarity score below 20% are accepted for evaluation and proceed to the peer-review process.

    • This threshold ensures that minor similarities (such as common phrases or properly cited references) do not impact the manuscript’s originality.
