Publication Ethics: Commitments of the Editorial Board and Authors

The Journal of Economics & Management (REG) is committed to promoting high-quality scientific research while adhering to the strictest ethical and professional standards. This charter defines the responsibilities and obligations of all stakeholders: editorial board members, authors, reviewers, and readers. It ensures integrity and transparency in producing, evaluating, and disseminating scientific work.

1) Core Principles of REG

  1. Scientific Integrity: All parties must adhere to high ethical standards and avoid any form of misconduct (e.g., plagiarism, data falsification, or fabrication).
  2. Confidentiality: Submitted manuscripts are confidential and must only be shared with authorized parties.
  3. Impartiality: Editorial decisions are based solely on the scientific quality of the work, irrespective of the authors' origin, gender, nationality, or institution.
  4. Copyright Respect: REG respects intellectual property rights and expects contributors to do the same.

2) Editorial Commitments

  • Responsibility: The Faculty of Economic, Commercial, and Management Sciences, represented by the Dean as the publication director, oversees the publication of research articles in compliance with current legislation and the journal's editorial policy.
  • Best Practices: REG adheres to transparency and ethical standards outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).
  • Original Work: Only original scientific articles, reviewed by the editor-in-chief or associate editors and evaluated by two anonymous reviewers (and potentially a third), are published. Editorial decisions are based solely on scientific merit.
  • Plagiarism Check: Similarity and plagiarism analyses are conducted before initiating the evaluation process.
  • Free Access: Accepted articles are published free of charge.
  • Confidentiality: The editorial board ensures the confidentiality of authors' scientific data until publication. Unpublished articles are returned to their authors and destroyed.
  • Anonymity: The anonymity of authors and reviewers is guaranteed. Reviewers are selected based on their expertise and research area.
  • Timeliness: If reviewers decline an evaluation, alternative reviewers are assigned promptly. Reviewers are expected to provide their evaluations within two months.
  • Communication: Editorial staff respond promptly to authors' inquiries.
  • Misconduct Allegations: If allegations of research misconduct are made concerning a submitted or published article, the journal follows COPE guidelines to address the situation.
  • Open Access: Articles are accessible and downloadable via the ASJP platform (https://asjp.cerist.dz/en/PresentationRevue/438) and on the university's website (https://univ-bejaia.dz/reg/). The journal ensures the long-term digital preservation of content.

3) Authors' Commitments

  • Original Research: Authors must submit original work not previously published or under review elsewhere. Research must be solely their own and not derived from others' work without proper acknowledgment.
  • Scientific Standards: Submissions must follow universal scientific standards, including proper referencing and source acknowledgment. Authors bear full responsibility for the authenticity and originality of their work. REG disclaims any liability for plagiarism.
  • Authorship: Only individuals who have made significant contributions to the work should be listed as authors.
  • Conflict of Interest: Authors must disclose any conflicts of interest that could influence their research.
  • Responsibility: Opinions expressed in the articles are solely those of the authors, and neither the faculty nor the editorial board bears responsibility for them.

4) Reviewers' Commitments

  • Objectivity: Reviewers must provide constructive and impartial feedback to enhance the quality of submitted articles.
  • Confidentiality: Information in reviewed manuscripts must not be disclosed or used for personal purposes.
  • Timeliness: Reviewers must adhere to deadlines to ensure an efficient editorial process.
  • Conflict of Interest: Reviewers must recuse themselves if they have a conflict of interest or feel unqualified to evaluate an article.

5) Readers' Commitments

  • Copyright Compliance: Readers must use published articles in accordance with copyright and publication use guidelines.
  • Reporting Issues: Ethical breaches observed in any article can be reported to the editorial board.

6) Sanctions and Remedies

In cases of violation of the principles outlined in this charter:

  • Articles in question may be retracted.
  • Authors or reviewers involved may be excluded from future collaboration with the journal.
  • Legal action may be pursued in cases of severe breaches of the journal's integrity.

7) Revision and Enforcement

This charter is periodically reviewed to align with evolving international standards in scientific ethics.
