ur article aims to take stock of the evolution of the national policy of local public transport (LPT) in Algeria while analyzing the regulatory tools implemented to promote sustainable mobility. Our analysis is based on the new Algerian strategy (2005- 2015) focused on the modernization and development of the infrastructure assets and the diversification of the TEC offer (tramway, reintroduction of the public transport company, metro, cable car, etc.) for a better organization of LPT aiming at reducing the use of the car. Through the analysis of the infrastructure network and the mobility flows of the populations of eight intermediate cities of Kabylia, we will try to characterize the mobility of the population concerning the supply of LPT. We will try to see if it bears the beginnings of a new mobility paradigm integrating the societal and sustainable approach.
