IMPACT OF MICROCREDIT ON THE REDUCTION OF POVERTY IN ALGERIA: A CASE STUDY IN THE REGION OF BEJAIA

This article examines the role that microfinance can play in the reduction of poverty understood through a number of indicators such as children’s education, access to housing, food security and household spending. The study is generated from a survey that targeted households benefiting from microfinance in the region of Bejaia (Algeria). Based on Multiple Correspondence Analysis (MCA) and an Ascending Hierarchical Classification (CAH), the study shows that the microfinance has contributed significantly to reducing the level of poverty of the study population.
