The objective of our research is to study the development of urban public space in the municipality of Bejaia to ensure safe mobility for pedestrians. To achieve this, we carried out a microeconometric study using individual survey data from 390 pedestrians in the Bejaia district. Thus, we analysed the respondents' appreciation of pedestrian developments on the one hand, and then analysed the risk factors for pedestrian accidents linked to these developments on the other. The results we obtained show that pedestrians in the Bejaia city are suffering from unsafe, inaccessible facilities that do not meet their needs. However, the latter does not explain the occurrence of pedestrian accidents to any significant extent.
