Abstract

Food consumption depends on many factors such as eating habits, local availability and household income. The objective of this research is to identify the determinants of food consumption in the face of food insecurity in Senegal where the social situation worsened between 2010 and 2013 in terms of food consumption. The results obtained from a linear regression model show that the factors of vulnerability of food consumption depend on their socioeconomic and socio-demographic situation. These factors can keep these households food insecure. Food security therefore requires a good policy centered in particular on increasing agricultural productivity but also on non-agricultural income opportunities.
