EVALUATION DE LA RESSOURCE HALIEUTIQUE DE LA BAIE DE BEJAIA : ENTRE SOUS-EXPLOITATION ET SUREXPLOITATION

Abstract

The wilaya of Bejaia has a maritime frontage exceeding 100 km of coasts, which confer to it an important
potential in terms of fishing and aquaculture. However, despite these natural endowments, activities related to
the exploitation of fisheries resources remain among the least conducive to the economy of the region. This
present article aims to examine the problems of the management of marine capture fisheries in the bay of
Bejaia. The main result we have reached is that, taking into account the nature of the equipment used, the
activity of fishing combines two bound situations, at the same time, with under exploitation of stock of fishing
and with the overexploitation of the resource known as “overexploitation growth”, which cause the
underdevelopment of the fisheries sector of the wilaya.
