dc.description.abstract This study investigated the effectiveness of Socratic seminar teaching technique in fostering second-year EFL students. oral fluency in terms of speech rate and pausing frequency. To reach this objective, a quasi-experimental with non-equivalent control group design was adopted with 12 participants enrolled in the department of English at Bejaia University that are split into two groups; experimental and control. The data were gathered using pre-and-post-test to determine the participants. oral fluency level prior and after the implementation of the treatment, observation to obtain data of the talk dominance, teachers and students .roles and classroom environment, then a post-experiment questionnaire to identify the participants. perceptions towards the use of the Socratic seminar technique en_US
