dc.description.abstract The present study is an effort to apply the Elements of the Marxist theory tackling the Victorian author Charles Dickens's novel Hard Times as a case-study. It aims at highlighting the elements of the theory in the novel as a medium to prove the negative impact of inequality in wealth distribution. This dissertation is a Marxist reading of the novel as a critic of the social inequality. It introduces the reader to class consciousness and class struggle as elements of the Marxist theory in order to foreground Dickens’ ideology through his novel’s social context and characters en_US
