Abstract:
The primary goal behind foreign language teaching and learning is to be able to communicate in the target language. Since we are in a foreign language context, classroom is the sole setting where communicating in English can be fostered. However, most of the learners are reluctant to use the target language in the classroom. Therefore, a common
problem confronting language instructors in the classroom is their learners’ unwillingness to communicate. Thus, the present study investigated the effects of anxiety on EFL learners’ unwillingness to communicate in the classroom. This study intends to provide a better understanding of the effects of anxiety on students’ oral communication in the English language classes and to identify the major sources of their anxiety
