Contribution of the military hospital in the Structuring and evolution of the colonial city. Case of the city of Laghouat.
Abstract
On 4 December 1852, the French army destroyed the Ksar of Laghouat and became the basis for a new city that followed new urban planning rules. This city will have as its core the military hospital of Laghouat which will be installed at the citadel of Sidi Salem and will contribute thereafter to the colonial city's production and structuring. This article deals with the study of the contribution of the military hospital in the production of the city of Laghouat. It will first trace the reasons for the colonization of the Ksar of Laghouat as well as the process of the installation of the military hospital. Secondly, this article will analyse the evolution of the city of Laghouat according to a diachronic approach in order to determine the degree of contribution of the hospital in the production of the city.
