Abstract

The strike of the Algerian students had received a great deal of support. At least half of them had followed it. Many had gone up to the maquis, especially in the region of Chrea and Kabylia. Others had joined their region to join the maquis. Some, less scrupulous, went abroad to continue their studies or had contributed to trade. A minority did not think they had to follow suit. According to the information, some of those mounted in Chrea were versed in the fighting units, while others had been directed to Tunisia, to continue their studies and prepare the cadres of tomorrow. The Kabylia, under the impulse of Amirouche had also sent several dozen students, talebs and young people to Tunisia. This aspect had not been lost sight of by those in charge of the F.L.N.
