The representation of the "bandits of honor" in the Kabyle social imaginary.
Abstract
In this article, we tackle the phenomenon of the "bandits of Honor" which has marked the history of the Algerian resistance by the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 2Oth century. These "honor bandits " to which the colonial France devoted entire armed troops to hunt them down, catch them and execute them in order to put an end to their action and the population an infallible assistance and support as well as an unequaled esteem. Nowadays, in spite of their disappearance, they keep feeding the Kabyle social imaginary; they become myths that recount the achievements of the characters whose destiny is out of common.
