Capitalist companies and French banks in Algeria and their impact on expanding the circle of real estate confiscation (1852-1870)
Abstract
The article seeks to shed light on the settlement policy adopted during the era of the Second Empire (1852-1870 AD) based mainly on encouraging major economic projects in the colony of Algeria by activating capitalist companies of all kinds that would build villages, settlement centers and French banks that played their role in financing settlement projects In return for the privileges granted to it by the colonial authorities, this investment expanded the foreign migration towards colonial Algeria, which provided it with all the appropriate conditions for settlement. In return, the policy of the financial institutions negatively affected the social and economic life of the Algerians.
