Kingdom of Coco and the shrines and the monuments it left behind

Abstract

In this article, we discuss a kingdom of value in the modern history of Algeria in general and the history of the Kabylie region in particular, represented by the kingdom of Coco which appeared in 1511 after the Spanish occupation of the cty of Bejaia in 1510. This article focuses on the Kingdom of Coco and the shrines and the monuments it left First, we examine the origin of this kingdom, referring to hypotheses presented by some authors, including Feraud, Nil Robin and Said Boulifa., Second, shed light on the circunmstances surrounding the emergence of this kingdom including the expulsion of Muslims from Andalusia and their persecution to the coasts of North Africa, the emergence of the Ottoman brothers Barbarossa, and the return of Ahmed Ben Al-Qadi to the land of his ancestors, Ath Ghobri, and the foundation of his kingdom in the village of Aourir,. In addition, the city of Algiers was under the authority of Ath Al-Qadi between150 and 1525.
